Jogging in and around Salzburg

Salzburg is the perfect city for a relaxing morning run. There are beautiful running paths, especially along the Salzach, with breathtaking views of the fortress. You can start jogging right from the Hotel Hölle or you can go on one of the well-known running routes in the city of Salzburg.

For example, the Mönchsbergrunde is not far from your accommodation. At 4.5 kilometers, it is a short but relatively strenuous route around the Mönchsberg with beautiful views of the old town.

Or you can head into the province of Salzburg and run around Lake Fuschl, which is around 20 km away. You will need a certain amount of stamina for the 11 km run around the lake, but the effort of the running route in Salzburg will be worth it.

The best way to discover the city of Salzburg is by bike. The federal capital offers over 180 km of cycle paths. These cycle routes in Salzburg guarantee you a scenic and safe ride. Cycle along the Salzach or into the old town and marvel at the architecture.

You can also get to Salzburger Land by bike. You cycle safely to Fuschl am See almost exclusively on dedicated cycle paths. Perfect for cooling off in the lake straight afterwards. Alternatively, you can also take your bike on the bus to Fuschl and then cycle around the lake in comfort.

    For this hike in Salzburg you need to plan approx. 1.5 hours ascent. Beautiful view over the city of Salzburg. If you don't want to hike, you can alternatively drive to the summit.
  • Ellmaustein in Fuschl
    A leisurely hike for the whole family in Salzburg with views of Lake Fuschl. Especially recommended at sunset.
  • Schober in Fuschl
    A somewhat more strenuous hiking tour in Salzburg. Nevertheless, with an ascent of around one hour, it is rather shorter.
  • Drachenwand from Fuschl or Mondsee
    Beautiful hiking tour with views of Lake Mondsee. In good weather, you can also catch a glimpse of Lake Attersee. An alternative to the hike is the via ferrata with access in St. Lorenz near Mondsee.
  • Schafberg in St. Wolfgang
    Several routes lead up the Schafberg. Depending on which one you choose, it will be a moderate or difficult tour. The Schafberg is considered one of the highlights in the Salzkammergut and not without reason: the summit impresses with a 360° view of the surrounding 7 lakes. The imposing summit can also be reached barrier-free with the Schafbergbahn, the steepest steam cog railroad in Austria, making it accessible to everyone.

When the weather is fine, the City Wall in the heart of Salzburg opens its doors to all those who want to experience outdoor climbing in Salzburg on bare rock. 4 different routes with difficulty levels A-E lead to the Kapuzinerberg with a wonderful view of the old town. To protect breeding birds, the City Wall via ferrata in Salzburg is closed from March 1 to June 30 and in bad weather conditions.

The Waldbad Anif has a site area (jetty, sunbathing area and meadow) of almost 2 hectares and a 3.6 hectare water area. In addition, the Waldbad Anif in Salzburg also offers wakeboarding and a high ropes course for those who are actively seeking adventure in their free time in Salzburg.
