St. Peter
The Stift St. Peter in Salzburg was founded in 696 by Bishop Rupert of Worms. It is the oldest monastery in the German-speaking area. The St Peter’s Monastery Church forms the centre point of the monastery. For 1200 years, monks have lived in St Peter according to the rule of St Benedict of Nursia. The grounds also house the oldest library in Austria.
