Salzburg Cathedral
Several times destroyed and rebuilt again, enlarged and transformed – the evolution of Salzburg Cathedral elucidates parts of the history of Salzburg as well. As an important, and the largest, religious building in the city, the Cathedral is overwhelming from the outside with its façade and its massive dome. Inside, the visitor will find various other features, such as the christening fountain, in which Wolfgang A. Mozart was baptised. In addition the cathedral houses the Cathedral Museum. It is in the square in front of the building – the Domplatz – that the performance of ‘Everyman’ traditionally takes place during the Salzburg Festival.
